“Great class-arguably the best teaching assistant in the department.”
“I thought he was a great teacher. Very helpful when I went to ask for help. He REALLY seems to enjoy the subject and wants everyone else to love it too! Loved the class!
“I really enjoyed this class more than I thought I would. I started out taking it only because it was a requirement, but now I’m taking another course next semester.”
“I think Moss is a great teacher. He is really good at facilitating discussion and I love how he chose several books for us to read, so that we are able to understand a few philosophers relatively well. I really enjoyed this class.”
I really enjoyed this class as it has broadened my scope on life, the self & existence. Greg constantly used younger methodologies to teach us, which was easier to identify with.”
“This course gave me good perspective on what a philosophy course is about.”
“Variety of texts chosen to teach was diversified. He is very passionate about philosophy and just teaching in general and it shows in both lectures and willingness to assist students outside of class.”
“Mr. Moss is an awesome teacher. He took confusing texts and presented them in a clear and logical manner. It is obvious that he is passionate about what he teaches.”
“If I had another teacher, I’m not sure I’d find this class as interesting. I generally do not think in a philosophical kind of way so this class was a bit difficult.”
“I’ve had discussions with fellow students about the fact that this class would be easier if there was just a textbook, and simply lecture. But the reality is I would not have been challenged or truly learned anything if Mr. Moss had done that. There were moments where I actually felt incensed by the philosophy, but it incited me to think deeply- in all, bravo for Mr. Moss. It’s far beyond what I’d expect from a 1000-level class.”
“Professor Moss demonstrated a well versed knowledge in philosophy & shows promising potential as a philosopher & educator. The course material was well organized: Very diverse, but always thematically centered. He works well with the students & is entertainingly engaging in class. Always available for help & or material outside of class.
Explains some very difficult concepts with a clearness & conciseness equivalent or greater to what one would expect from a regular professor. Should have thrown in the allegory of the cave though as an early hook.”
“This class is extremely useful because it enlightened me on how think in the most logical sense and explore new theories and concepts on life. It confused me at first trying to learn by discussion because sometimes concepts were not discussed clearly but that is the nature of philosophy, overall, the most demanding and intellectually stimulating class of my life. Greg is an inspirational teacher, and that comes from the most sincere place in whatever sphere that ideas come from. And I am not brownnosing.”
“I appreciate Greg’s efforts toward class participation. He made me feel really comfortable and open. I would recommend him as a TA, he is going to be a great professor one day.”
“Great teacher that is able to pull students into the subject and into discussion. It’s an awesome feeling to have a teacher so full of life on the subject that it makes you feel the same.”
“I think that Greg is an excellent teacher and he has met with me numerous times on his own time and has peer reviewed many of my papers. He is always willing to discuss topics and help with my understanding of the material.
“This was an interesting class. While it was very difficult, it has also challenged me the most throughout college, I can appreciate that.”
“I liked the variety of philosophical views.”
“I never thought I would enjoy a philosophy class, especially at 8am, but Greg really made it interesting. I truly did enjoy the class!”
“At times I was very confused, but as the semester went on I started to understand it better.”
“You really have to pay attention in this class in order to enjoy it. Also, having background knowledge in philosophy is helpful. Mr. Moss explains things well and answers any questions.”

“By far this has been my favorite class at UGA!”
“Moss was a great instructor, for he was very enlightening to his students.”
“I really enjoyed my experience in this class. Being my first class at UGA, I found it academically challenging, relatively speaking. It was also very intellectually stimulating. I thought the TA was very good. One of the better teachers I have had. He does a good job explaining topics that are very dense when reading. I found clarity when coming to office hours on my leisure. Overall, I’d recommend the class and the TA to others.”
“Great job overall. Offers plenty of help and advice when asked and very nice overall. His work was never too demanding unless pushed aside.”
“Moss is a great professor. He goes above and beyond his obligations and I would recommend him as a professor to anyone.”

“It was a difficult class in terms of material, but enjoyable because of the teacher and the discussion.”
“Moss Rocks!”
“Awesome teacher. Excellent course.”
“The course was fine but a little to cryptic for someone who is not a philosophy major.”
“Greg is a great teacher. He is fair but very demanding concerning papers. He wants you to do well but won’t give you a grade unless you deserve it.”
“Greg Moss is brilliant. He is an engaging, interesting instructor. I love that he cares about inspiring us to intellectual, epistemic value and care so deeply about the subject, because it mean he is accessible and always willing to help out and answer questions. The structure of the course was perfect-love review sessions, the office hours were a life saver. He could be, however, a bit hard to follow in lectures. Maybe he could write on the board more. Great class, thought! I would take him again in a heartbeat.”
“This a great course for anyone interested in philosophy. You learn so many different components and Moss is a great teacher.”

“Great class in general, good discussions teaches you how to think.”
“The work load was enjoyable, we often did stimulating, useful exercises to help us learn, and the teacher was one of my favorites great personality and teaching style.”
II. Student Comments at Oglethorpe University
“This is the hardest class I have ever taken in my entire career. I have never experienced such difficulty in the reading and comprehension of the material. However, Greg has gone out of his way to make sure that I am confident in my ability and understanding as much as I can. The books are interesting and provide a lot of food for thought, this class is very much directed at student who are accustomed to philosophy classes which is probably why I struggled as much as I have, but still Greg made me feel like I had the efficacy to learn. And, I am!”
“Nietzsche isn't exactly easy to teach, but Professor Moss can teach it in a way that almost makes it seem easy even though in the back of your mind you know the material is ridiculously complicated.”
“I'm thrilled to have another good philosophy professor here to teach classes. I find it very useful to have multiple professors, as they tend to have some opposing philosophical views. This class has changed several of my personal views.”
“Mr. Moss is an excellent professor.”
“A very philosophical approach to Core.”
“Greg is an amazing teacher who has sincerely taught me to grow in my intellectual realm. He brings energy and inspiration to the classroom everyday and engages each student individually while still keeping the class together. His assignments are open so we are free to explore what is interesting to us.”
“He did an insane amount of extra work to encourage the students after class and always was willing to stay late to discuss anything, including subjects mentioned in class to outside of school activities. He was also always willing to come to extra curriculars, which made the students feel so involved. Truly, an amazing teacher. I know it is his hope to become tenured, and I would encourage the faculty to highly consider this. I know he would bring in an amazing attitude to Oglethorpe as a community.”
“Crackerjack professor we have here. Hope he continues teaching at Oglethorpe. Seriously keep this man around he makes core very enjoyable.”
“Professor Moss is awesome!”
“Was over all a very informative and thought provoking course. Enjoyed the in depth explanation and passion of the professor and would recommend him for future classes.”
“Greg Moss has become one of my favorite teachers, he is patient and bright and keeps students engaged. He always has some fascinating insight on the reading that I would never think of, or asks the right questions as to allow the students to make their own revelations. My only complaint is that when I am doing poorly or made a mistake he gives a lot of useful feedback and comments; however, on my A papers or when I am grasping concepts he doesn't give as much and during those periods I feel unchallenged.”
